Hello! I am a newbie to this. :?
I have just sent in an application form to be on DOND. Reading these posts it seems it can take years to get on the show :( Does it really take that long?
I am a bit worried because I have fixed holidays, (school holiday dates), and so I can only commit to those, unless I can persuade my manager to let me have unpaid leave. Does anyone know how flexible this could be?

Why do they continue to invite new applications if people have been waiting for 3 years or more?

Hope you can help!

Hi Birdsnest321

Welcome to the forum

Yes unfortunately it can take years before you get an audition, Why have more auditions when people are still waiting? good question I can only think that they must be looking for certain types of people like old ladies, old men, etc that they are short of to make up a good mix of people in the contestants wings. So if you are lucky enough to fit that description (I don't mean you are old  it could be young, middle age whatever) then your chances of getting a very quick audition could be very good.

I have heard that they ask you to be a valuable for a month as they sometimes film for a few days then stop then resume filming etc, but I don't know for sure if that's correct.

Hope this helps

Good luck with your application

Best wishes

Welf

Hi Birdsnest,
Hope you get on ok with your application. Yes, there are people who have waited years and years to be on a show. When you think there must be absolutely thousands of people applying each time, with thousands waiting.! I think your idea is the best one - i.e. just forget that you've applied, don't dwell on it, and hopefully one day you may get that call! Have I applied? ooooh...... so long ago I can't remember.

Hi Birdsnest321

Yes that's the way to approach it but at the same time don't get disheartened like Jody said it can take years BUT some people have applied, got through the audition and onto the show within months so you never know.

Good luck

Best wishes

I applied a few weeks ago and last week the phone rang from 'Deal or No Deal' soooo excited, but it was only (at this stage) to offer me seats for the audience. Went along on Tuesday and recorded shows 2001 and 2002, plus trailer for Olly Muirs Show on Sunday, the trailer was on today in 3rd advert break and for the 1st time in ages I wasn't home and missed it ! Agggh, and I was in front row to behind contestant, all my friends saw me and I missed me!

Your heart must have been pounding when you knew it was DOND on the phone! It must have been fun to be a pilgrim though. Hope you get the contestant phone call soon. You never know - we might get on together!!

SazT you dont need a month off work. Most contestants only do 6 days actual filming on average. Thats all you need.

Hi John

Do they not do any filming at all between June and September? Where do you get your information - you seem very knowledgable!

Hi John,
Do they ever stop filming in April to October do you know, or is it always June time?

Hi Saz, think you should apply. Go for it girl. I had thought a weekish, or just over was the time required. They film 3 or 4 shows per day - but John will have the accurate/ up to date numbers for the moment.

They normally stop the run in April, and by then they have normally filmed to Dec 31, and then restart in Oct with the New years show. However due to losing so much time earlier with the mystery break, and then the extra celeb shows being filmed, they are extending the current 2 week filming to 3 weeks, then having a "dark week" (no filming) followed by 1 final week mid May. They will then return to film Halloween in October.

Birdsnest321, I know as im always there as a pilgrim!
